Resume Essentials 3rd Edition is really an essential handbook for every young graduate. The book provides a brief and concise guide within a small volume of 82 pages in total. It explains the do's and don'ts for preparing a resume and cover letter in the context of the United States. In this age of digitization, a lot of companies are using Applicant Tracking Software/Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to sort out poor resumes, and this book can help a resume pass through this initial machine filtration stage and enter into the human filtration stage. The book also provides a lot of useful tips for designing an effective LinkedIn profile to connect the world. The book shows 20 sample resumes for different professionals and one academic CV.

Opinion:

In my opinion, this book is a perfect handbook for those who are seeking a job in United States. Of course, the book is very useful for young graduates but also for experienced professionals to reconstruct their resume according to Applicant Tracking Software/Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) in this present context.  It even helps to shape a professional profile on LinkedIn. In spite of these qualities, I found that the book fails to guide those of us who live outside the United States. The book has no guidelines to translate one's academic qualifications, which differ from the education system of the United States. I also would like to point out that the book doesn't provide any guidelines to produce a more inclusive resume for LGBTQIA+ individuals to represent their desired pronoun and gender. Still, the book provides basic guidance to structure a resume for various professional positions in the United States.
