This book is about a boy named Sammy. One day he sees a Sofa Monster, who is helpful because it ate Sammy's peas, and Sammy doesn't like peas. After dinner they meet up under Sammy's bed and make a deal. The deal is if the sofa monster eats Sammy's vegetables everyday, he will give the monster gum.  The sofa monster wants gum because he found gum under the sofa and he wants more for his family and friends.

Opinion:

I think this book is best for 5 to 6 year old, but there are big words. Although it's about a monster, it is not scary, and the plot is simple for younger kids to understand.

I liked how the book had very specific details. For example, on the first page it said Sammy had to be brave, not that Sammy was brave. I also liked the pictures.  My favorite one was the sofa monster because of the creativity. This is a fun book for young children.
