LitPick Review
Travels and Tribulations is an interesting, insightful, and educational novel. This book is made up of series of stories which are recounts of author Tyrel Nelson's travel experiences. Having a passion for adventure, he engaged in several volunteering activities which involved him leading his volunteer team to various parts of the world. But amidst his various travels, he encountered several life difficulties. These were indeed painful experiences that he had to deal with, and his relationships with several people during his adventures helped to an extent.
Opinion:
The writing style of author Tyrel Nelson was beautiful. The book is made up of chapters organized into sections. Pictures were used which aided understanding. Also, the writing style was unique, being a nice blend of nonfictional occurrences with a tinge of fiction that was needed to protect people's privacy. The book consists of several Spanish words and Spanish sentences with translations, so that even a nonspeaker could relate and enjoy. Emotions reflected in this novel range from excitement and happiness to nostalgia and grief. The atmosphere toward the end of the novel was emotional as the author was plagued with memories of his lost loved ones. The characters were well-developed. One of the characters I liked was Elizabeth Nelson, Tyrel's mother. She was a caring, loving, and strong woman. A good mother, she was just amazing. His partner, too, Alyssa Nelson, is a lovely woman and so supportive. I didn't like the fact that there were some minute errors like a mix up of dates and numbers in few instances. This caused a bit confusion, however it didn't hinder the flow of the book. Adventure lovers would find this book a treasure. Spanish lovers would enjoy this novel. Even nonspeakers would find it awesome. Travels and Tribulations is simply a great read.
