Anya learns her aunt, Queen of the Faerie Kingdom of Chroir, will soon die. As a result, she must take up the throne herself as her cousin, Illumina, is unfit to rule. Not only that, the true heir, Prince Zabriel, long ago disappeared into the human realm of Warckum. Determined not to take the throne, Anya sets off on a life-changing journey to find Zabriel and persuade him to reclaim the crown. However, the journey Anya is about to embark on is far more dangerous than she could ever have imagined. But with the help of her human friend, Shea, they continue on in the hopes of finding the missing prince of Chroir.

Opinion:

A wonderful, fast-paced, and engaging novel. The character development helped to create connections with the problems each character faced; Shea's father unable to accept her wanting to leave, and Anya, who lost her wings and with it, the ability to fly or to even return to Chroir. The idea of faeries, in my opinion, was rather intriguing. They basically lived in a society right beside the human territory, hating each other for their differences. I enjoyed the story to the fullest and eagerly look forward to the next novel in the trilogy.
