Gwen Frost always thought she was an average girl, that is until she gets sent to Mythos Academy, a school for the descendants of great Greek and Roman warriors of the past. And if that isn't crazy enough, she soon finds out that she is the god, Nike’s, Champion. A champion is basically a god’s chosen mortal that fights all their battles for them. It also turns out that Nike’s rival, Loki is out of his prison and out to kill Gwen. Just a few weeks ago he tried to put himself into Gwen’s boyfriend, Logan’s body! Logan ended up stabbing Gwen.... Ya, not the most romantic thing to do, but it wasn't his fault. After he returned to his normal self, he couldn't take the guilt so he ran away, leaving a heart-broken Gwen in the midst of blood-shed and Chaos. Now a Reaper, one of Loki’s followers, tried to poison Gwen but accidentally poisoned the wrong person. Follow Gwen as she races to find the cure to save a friend’s life.

Opinion:

I loved this book. Jennifer Estep is now one of my favorite authors. She balances the perfect amount of love, action and comedy on every single page. On some pages I found that I could barely see the words through the tears in my eyes and on others I was laughing until I was out of breath. I love the description in the book. I feel like I am actually inside of it. My favorite character has got to be the talking sword. I feel like that made the book unique. I also loved the character development that happened throughout the book. You could see Gwen blossoming into a brave warrior and that made the book incredible. I would definitely recommend this book.
