Below by Meg McKinlay is the story of a girl named Cassie who was born on the day that her town, Old Lower Grange, was intentionally hidden beneath five thousand swimming pools' worth of water.  Cassie was brought home to a superficially replicated version of the town, called New Lower Grange, where life went on and the new town was filled with old memories.  Cassie's tale is twisted with story of Liam, a boy  in Cassie's class with a haunted past, and the two of them work together to uncover the secrets hidden in Old Lower Grange.

Opinion:

Initially, I was drawn in.  I liked the writing, and the story was illusive and fascinating.  As I continued reading, I was frustrated by the lack of advancement in plot.  As the story continued forward, the writing began to feel simple.  I lost interest in the story.  I finished it, but it did not feel worthwhile.  Despite this, I did not feel that this book was horrible.  I would recommend it if you are looking for something short, and not too mind-bending.  It was simple, but that does not mean that it was unenjoyable.
