Edna In The Desert
Edna is a precocious trouble-maker wreaking havoc at her Beverly Hills school. Her therapist advocates medication, but her parents come up with an alternative cure: Edna will spend the summer in the desert with her grandparents. Their remote cabin is cut off from cell phone service, Internet and television. Edna naturally finds this arrangement unacceptable. She’s determined to rebel until she meets an older local boy and falls in love for the first time. How can she get to know him from the edge of nowhere? Praise for Edna in the Desert "I really enjoyed it. Edna in the Desert really captured the teenage voice and how they think they know everything. I definitely think more schools should have the opportunity to read it." -- Melissa Mehling, Honors English Teacher, Carle Place High School, Carle Place, NY"I LOVED the book! It was so dramatic and sweet. I just loved it. I will buy several copies for my school library, and I recommend it to students and teachers." Karen Casaceli, Gateway Middle School Librarian, Monroeville, PA

Profile Picture

Edna In the Desert by Maddy Lederman is a riviting novel about a young girl and her summer banishment to her grandparent's house.  In fact, their house just so happens to be in the desert, or as Edna likes to say, the middle of nowhere. When her parents abandon her with her grandparents who live just outside the small ghost town of Desert Palms, Edna makes a horrid mistake that will alter her entire summer. She decides to run off into the desert and die. Little does she know that dying in the desert isn't quite what they make it seem like in the movies.
