Seriously Silly is a story about a boy, Tip, who doesn't seem to understand when things are funny or how to interact with others in social situations to make them laugh. Tip needs some social language support but some people, children, and adults in his community don't understand this and "boo" at him when he makes a social mistake and tells a silly joke during a spelling bee. With the help of the "village King," and the community, Tip learns how to tame some of his inappropriate "sillies" and receives help from others to teach him when it is appropriate to be silly.

Opinion:

This book is well written and may highlight social language skills for young elementary-age children who are struggling to fit in with their peers and understand when to make jokes. The illustrations feature facially expressive characters with big eyes, large mouths, etc., making it easier for young children to see the different emotional expressions on the characters' faces. This book also had a relatable setting as the character, Tip, is trying to make friends at school, at recess, and during the school spelling bee.
