Written as a two act stage play, we follow the story of the souls of those who are buried at Westminster Cemetery. Westminster Cemetery is famous for being the final resting place for Edgar Allen Poe. We meet the main character Lacy Brink. She is classified as a modern when she wakes up dead and the other souls who awaken all died before 1913. She learns of the strict routine and rules that the dead follow. If they don't follow the rules, and there are a lot of them, they receive strikes. Once you get three strikes, you become supressed, which means that you will be stuck in your grave and you will not be able to rise again. The dead are also given jobs, and Lacy is given the job as President of the Entertainment Committee, and she decides to hold an open mic to help the souls let go of their emotions and grief and secrets.

Opinion:

This was my first time reading a stage play format, and I really enjoyed it. It might be one of my favorites. I liked how easy it was to tell the characters apart and the author notes in between the scenes. My favorite part had to be Edgar Allen Poe and his Raven. I was a little disappointed at the ending because there are ends left untied, and I wish it were longer.
