Set in 1722 New Orleans this story about the original three vampires is full of star crossed lovers, drama and ultimately pain. Siblings Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah have fled to New Orleans in search of a home safe from their father and vampire hunter. New Orleans is a city engulfed in turmoil as the witches and werewolves fight for control. The night a peace was to be reached by the engagement of a witch and werewolf Klaus falls in love with the witch. Fearing the onset of a war Rebekah attempts to sway the French soldiers to fight for them instead getting mixed up with a couple of vampire hunters. Will the Mikaelson siblings be victorious or fall prey to their love?

Opinion:

I gave this book 5 stars because this book draws readers in and doesn’t let go. Julie Plec weaves a world in which three of the most powerfull supernatural factions are subtly fighting for control over New Orleans below the notice of the humans inhabiting the city. Any fan of the paranormal would love this book. With a very teen friendly atmosphere this book is a fantastic ecape from reality for any and all book enthusiasts. I personaly can’t wait to get my hands on the next instalment to contiinue on with this family of vampires.
