Elena Watkins is a young teenage girl who just wants a normal life and wants her dad to stop forcing them to move every three months. She got part of her wish when dragons came for her and her dad. She was finally able to stop moving. The dragons killed her father, who she later found out was a dragon himself.

A girl named Elena finds out her father was a dragon.  She is sent to a special school for kids who are dragons or also called “Dragonians.” Soon after she meets a boy named Lucian and they fall in love. But nothing about this school is always rainbows and butterflies; there is something called “claiming,” which is basically a battle to the death. I recommend this book to all students and teachers all around the world; they would love this.

Elena, the main character of the book Firebolt, lives a tough life. Every three months she and her father pick up the few things they own and move to a new rental house far away for some reason unknown to Elena. She always wondered why they must pick up and move, never giving her the opportunity to make friends or settle down, until the day she was driving with her father, moving yet again, and they flew off the road. Then, before her eyes, she saw a dragon, a real, live dragon. Her father then runs out of the car and tells her to run, and she does.
