Before writing his first novel, Matthew A. Carter worked in the private banking industry in Switzerland and the UK. He also spent seven years in Russia as an investment banker and is fluent in Russian. He was born and grew up in San Francisco and studied economics at the University of Southern California. He now lives in Zurich.
